White Gardens Card-Masking and Bleaching VIDEO!

Well, hello everyone!  How’s your week going, so far?  Any crafting done?

These cards are some of my first layering cards , where I used the masking technique to layer the flowers to make a bouquet, using the Garden Treasures by Altenew.  Well, I masked these flowers, as well for this card [keep reading, video below].

I made three of these on different papers.  Including watercolor paper, neenah 80# and Bristol card stock.

Watercolor paper is used for the card in the photographs.  I used Canson XL, it takes on a lot of water and blends the ink very well.

I entered my card into the Altenew Inspiration Challenge and you can, too.  Just follow this Link.

I also, used the ‘bleaching’ technique to ‘bleach the center flower to white.  Many of you have requested a video showing this process.  It’s been a long time, but I put a vid together, tonight.  Hope you like it and it’s helpful?

To blend the inks I used a Clarity Brush and some blending tools from Tim Holtz.  The inks I used are Aged Mahogany, Victorian Velvet and Picket Fence.

My Altenew stamps were purchased at Kraftgali store.

I finished up with shimmer spritz all over my card…I just love the sparkle.

I’m totally loving this technique and the beautiful results.  I hope you’re inspired to try some of these cards!

Thank you, for visiting and please let me know if  you have any questions or would like to see a process video?…I’m here to help. 🙂

Hugs and Blessings,

Thank you so much, ladies. I have tried a tutorial now…it’s a bit long, but some people didn’t want it fast forward and I haven’t done a video is a longgg time…ha. Please let me know if you like it or how I can do better and I hope you try these things, too 🙂

  5. Kathy M says:

Beautiful card – you only used water not bleach to “bleach out” the main flower? Then you also painted white ink on it and then painted the sparkle just on the flower?
    Thanks, Kathy

Hi Kathy and thank you for your questions 🙂 NO bleach, ONLY water-which I repeated after drying, until I liked how it looked. I tried painting the picket fence white distress ink to see what effect it would give. I ended up sticking to water and I sprayed from 2ft up from the piece to apply the shimmer. *note I left this step out on the video.

Thank you so much! I learned a lot and just can’t wait to start using this technique. I really appreciate the detailed video as I, and I’m sure a lot of other people, need to see this and so many other videos leave out details that a person doesn’t know when they are starting! Can’t wait to see more videos!!!!
