Oh like Wow! Here it is major swing into the Holiday’s and I’m lovin’ Carta Bella’s ‘So This is Christmas’ Collection!
I’m so excited to share with you my Carta Bella DT Poinsettia Topiary project created with this collection
This project is so EASY and FUN! I’ve put together a tutorial so you can make your own!
Let’s get started!
First, I used Carta Bella’s ‘So This is Christmas’ Collection and the following Silhouette SVG files:
For the LARGE Poinsettia- I Cut 14 sets of the SMALLER three petals, keeping proportions [do Not resize]. These Larger flowers will make up the top of your topiary.
For the Smaller flowers- reduce size to 2″ and I used papers from the collection’s 6×6 pack and places three different papers on my mat, using my Silhouette Cameo.
Oh my geezers! I can’t even begin to tell you how convenient this is…well yes, I can! Take a Look..see All on ONE Mat and oh see easy to lift them up and I put mine in baggies until I was ready to assemble the darlings!
To Create your flowers, start inking them up! I used Memento inks any will do.
Pay special attention inking the centers…get creative with blending the ink! Wheee!
Then, with the end of any paint brush curl each petal.
With the same paint brush and a mouse pad shape your flower petals and glue layering three petals off center of the next.
They should look similar to the one on the left in the above photo.
Once they are dried I added some Martha Stewart medium flake glitter for a snowy effect…Loveeeeeee this!
Then, I used my Crop-a-dile to make a hole in each flower center and added Brads, also from the collection.
I also, added the yellow flower centers on some of the flowers with smaller brads.
Set your flowers aside.
Next, I started painting my dowel white. TIP: Cut the tips to a point and they went into the 4″ styrofoam ball Great!
Locate and Cut all pieces to the Terra cotta pot SVG kit. Glue all the pieces together. I made an extra piece to close in the top [optional]
I placed Pebbles in the bottom so not to fall over [top heavy] and filled the pot with Green Flower Florist spongy stuff…lol called Dry Foam. Pack in quite tight.
Then, I placed my painted dowel into to the styrofoam ball and then into the Dry foam in the pot.
From there, I put my made paper shape on top [you can decorate with shredded paper or whatnot, too.
From there, I hot glued my large flowers on and used my small flowers, coordinating brads and Chipboard stickers.
I love it and can’t wait to place it somewhere special for the holidays! WooT!
Also, you can use the same idea for a Spring, Fall or Baby Showers and Weddings!!
